Free internet rocks... I have 12:49 to give the lowdown on why Singapore could be the coolest place AND airline in existance ;-)
For 14 hours of mind-numbing pacific crossing coach class marathon plane riding, we were fed 3 times, had access to television, Nintendo, music and news, and every few hours they'd bring around hot towels "to freshen". Also, the air hostesses are so bloody cute... I think I have a little hetero-crush on them all, so much that I bought a Singapore Airlines airhostess outfit (the traditional dress of the Malay I hear) in a gift shop over here. The fetish begins? Anyway...
I watched Family Guy, Khanna Kazana with Sanjeev Kapoor, House, How I Met Your Mother, a tamil movie called Jerry, most of Wallace & Grommit's new movie, played trivia, conquered 4 worlds worth of Super Mario Brothers, played Centipede, and did a crossword, all from the semi-comfort of my coach seat.
(so much for no more tv)
What else? We took the tour... I used the loo in Taiwan (it was a squat loo~ exciting!!) we befriended some people and generally had a good time in and around Singapore's Airport. What a beautiful descent. Now it's just about 2 hours until we fly off for Kochi, or Cochin India on the final leg of what is only now beginning to seem like a neverending journey.
Lamest of the lame, I ate Subway for dinner :)
Can I be negative for a second and say that one guy on the plane from LAX was stinkingso badly that it was permeating across the aisle? But then... judge not, lest ye be judged... I think we were ALL stinking by the end of that trip. Poor Singapore got a horrible whiff of "feet" smell when they cracked open the tin can that was our trans-Pacific 747.
Oh! Other interesting thing... at least for po-dunk kids from the village *country* like me... for 8 dollars (best 8 bucks EVER) I was able to take a shower in the cleanest, most comfortable, best water pressure ever shower at one of the Transit Hotels over here. VERY COOL SCHEME! Do wonders ever cease?
Singapore is one lovely city, btw... photos to be posted hopefully soon. Okay, got to run... Aunty should be emerging from her superman esque quick change and we're headed off to board. My tummy's starting to ache.. I think it wants to lay down instead of be sitting up. Might be a call some airport floor sleeping before we depart...
Rambling, rambling... I already lost this once (first one was better) but the darn free internet access logged me out so THERE. Done.

O.C Addendum
The sad thing about coming to California was that I was to sleepy to watch Heroes last night. Even though it was on at 9 p.m. Pacific, it was 3 hours later in my brain... and I couldn't hack it. Perhaps this is the beginning of my much needed weaning away from television!
(and all I can think is that I will miss "How I Met Your Mother" tonight... pathetic)

Greetings from the O.C.
Hello from L.A. (or Irvine, CA exac-tic-ally)
Just a quick thing to say that crossing the country on American Airlines was a pleasant experience, other than the fact that the Chicago to LA flight had more children on board than a Chinese Nursery School. Thank God for beautiful iPod shuffle (thank u husband again, u are most awesome beautiful spouse) and ear buds.
Tried desperately during my 4 hour layover in Chicago to find a "Sudoku for Dummies" or "Tard-level Sudoku" or Sudoju Jr... or SOMETHING I could handle... my sis tweaked my interest in the numeral & square cult so I thought I'd give it a try at the self-serving, super easy level. All to no avail. Shall try and hunt one down in LAX while we wait for our flight on Singapore Airlines.
We (we being me and Sebastian's aunt Leela, hereby known as Aunty) will depart tonight at 11:30 p.m. and fly for a solid 9 hours over the Pacific (shudder) to Taipei, then on to Singapore where we get a 8 hour stop and a tour. I have a change of clothes hermetically sealed down in the bottom of my carry-on backpack that will be donned upon arrival there, to be a little more "fresh and clean" for our 10:30 p.m. arrival in India. We get there on November 30th. Not sure how all that works becuase of crossing the int'l date line.
Going with the 70 lb weight limit for international flights, I think I've got...
20 lbs of chocolate
15 lbs of saris
10 lbs of gifts
another 10 lbs of books to read (dear reader, go get Holy Cow, an Indian Adventure - quite nice. already finished but bringing along anyways for reference)
5 lbs of excess weight put on my ass while eating Manchu Wok and drinking root beer in Chicago O'Hare yesterday...
4 lbs of camera equipment, chargers, video, and other methods of bringing images and video back for posterity
3 lbs of paranoia-inspired medicines to counteract any possible problem with my stomach, bowels, inner ear, sinus, bum, back, or reproductive organs
2 lbs of Wal-Mart clearance sleveless cotton shirts,in fact made in India (I'll just be bringing them back "home")
and 1 lb of hairdye, as I am as equally paranoid about disease and malaise as that I wouldn't be able to get the right color over there and my ol' brassy bad bleach job will show through and give people more reason to think I'm a harlot ;-)

While millions of Americans are probably still eating Thanksgiving leftovers, either in pure leftover format or broken down into soup or Johnny Tetrazini (what my fam calls mushroom soup, noodles, and turkey)...
I STILL HAVE A SH*T LOAD OF STUFF TO DO!
Just checked with Singapore Air for baggage weight and carry on restrictions... looks like everything's legal and I don't have to worry about liquids and all in 3.4 oz containers...
Same with American Airlines, which will get me out to LA in order to catch above mentioned flight with Singapore.
We have not had anybody buy barely any of our stuff from Craigslist, and we've stuffed our storage unit just about to capacity with the things we determined were worth moving down to Dayton... and the house is still feeling very full o' junk. It's very - um - terrifying? And my dear hubby still is sawing logs on the futon cushion on the floor of our bedroom...
(bed went to storage last night)
Got to complete packing - stupid lil' last minute things. I think I'm probably bringing over 30 lbs of chocolate to India. Well maybe that's an exaggeration... but at least 15 and that's a chunk o' cocoa!
Off to weigh the bags... and then to throw out belongings... and then to storage... adn then to return the UHaul van... and then to pray that the heat/electric/internet shut off dates were indeed not for today but tomorrow :-)
And there are good football games to watch today, dammmnnniiiiit.

T-minus 11 days; or, "Caroline, Not Quite in Kerala, Yet"
4 days of work remaining!
11 more days in Michigan
12 days remaining in the US...
until...
11 hours in the air... one hour in Taipei.... another couple hours flying...
and then... 8 fabulous hours touring Singapore!!
ummm... and beyond that I'm not sure where, when, or even how this will all work. But basically the bullet points are:

about 16 hours of training my little replacement robot...
a MILLION hours of packing up the apartment
2 hours of Dayton apartment shopping (plus a 3.5 hour drive down there)
like 8 hours of moving stuff into storage (oh storage, where art thou?)
and diggety dog, at least a solid hour at least of bitching about my company and their crap internal communication protocol - or lack there of.
On a totally different note, I am utterly thrilled that NBC's Thursday line-up is going to be
